Hiawatha Rally Recap
We had a great turnout (162 paid attendees) and hot, sunny weather.
Two important points:
|
- Do you have open receipts or expenses for items you purchased for the rally? Please submit them immediately to Chuck Banks (crbanks11@gmail.com) so he can settle our rally ledger.
- Money Creek Haven promised that they will not do any more RV campsite conversions in the main campground. So the space we had this year will still be available in 2027 for our epic 50th annual rally.
|
| Thanks to Rally Chair Terry Stirewalt and Co-Chair Terry Lewis for hosting such a successful rally: |
Stay tuned for a separate email with plenty of rally photos and news.
Ride to Work Day - June 9
A member asked me to promote the annual Ride to Work Day, which is always the second Tuesday in June. I replied, "Well, many of us are happily retired." He said emphatically, "Then go for a nice ride that day anyway. Show the car drivers we are out there and they need to watch out for us."

MOA Rally - June 11–13
Some of our members are already on their way to Vermont for the annual MOA Rally:
|
- Our club reserved a chartered club campsite. We rented a large tent, table, and chairs for our site. The cost was $398, about half of what we had to pay at the past three MOA rallies. When you sign in, ask for directions to the chartered club area.
- Our club board voted to donate $750 to the MOA's Karol Patzer charity. Karol was a longtime club and MOA leader, and she was the champion of the MOA charity. After she passed away, the MOA renamed the charity in her honor.

Vikings Motorcycle Show - June 12–13
For those of us who are not riding to Vermont, Curt Henry suggested we go to a motorcycle show at the state fairgrounds:
Viking Chapter of the Antique Motorcycle Club of America (AMCA)
MN State Fairgrounds Progress Center
June 12–13, 2026 - Admission is $10

|
RA Rally - June 18-21
The national BMW RA rally is in Chippewa Falls from June 18-21.
Former club member Bob Alexander is one of the rally chairs, and Curt Henry is in charge of the Air Central site.
I asked about chartered club camping but never heard back from the RA.

Moon Motors Open House - May 1-2
Moon Motors had an open house on May 1-2. Our club had a table to recruit new members. Volunteers included Phil Stalboerger (MOA treasurer) and Terry Stirewalt (our vice president). |
|
Airhead Tech Day - May 2
Thank you to Steve and Diane Handeland for hosting the annual Airhead Tech Day at their home:
|
| We had a great selection of vintage boxer twins at the event: |
|
Club Meeting - May 14
It seems like ages since we met at Moon for our monthly club meeting on May 2. Thanks to the dealership for hosting us and feeding us dinner!
Jeremy (left) and Tanner from Law Tigersmade a presentation about motorcycle legal and insurance issues:
